. According to the medieval tale in Cappadocia was a dragon that ravaged the population.
To prevent massacres of the beast, decided to deliver a human sacrifice each day, chosen randomly among the locals. But apparently there was a day when the Princess of the place was the winner of that unfortunate draw. The young nobleman accepted his fate by refusing to be a victim of the Dragon supplanted by those who gave their lives to save her.
Once in the cave of the Dragon, when the maid was already destined to be devoured, San Jordi broke and fought the beast. So it was that George of Cappadocia killed the mythological animal, thrusting his sword into the heart.
Legend has it that the blood that flowed Dragon was born a rose. Hence the custom of giving the ladies a red rose on the day of San Jorge.
